To photograph light is to capture a moment that is already in the process of changing — and in summer, light takes on a particular weight and presence.
It might be the light touching a wall early in the morning, the sun breaking through the mist, or a room whose atmosphere shifts over the course of the day.
Small moments where light and space become especially tangible.
In July and August, we invite you to share your daylight moment.
How to participate:
Send your submission to the museum’s Instagram profile @villumwindowcollection or by email to amb@vkr-holding.com. You are welcome to enter the competition with multiple images.
We will continuously share submitted images on Instagram.
Deadline and prizes
Please submit your image no later than 31 August 2026. The winner will be announced in early September 2026 on the museum’s website and Instagram.
The three best images will be awarded a goodie bag consisting of:
An AirBird, the books The Nordic Window and Vinduesord, as well as our popular tote bag.
The best images will also be presented in a small exhibition at VILLUM Window Collection in autumn 2026. Please make sure to keep a high-resolution copy of your image, as this will be needed if your image is selected for the exhibition.

The competition is hosted by the Instagram profile @villumwindowcollection, managed by VKR Holding. The competition is in no way affiliated with, administered by, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram.

By participating, you agree that VILLUM Window Collection (VWCO) may publish your name and image in connection with the exhibition in Søborg and on the museum’s communication platforms.
The winner will be contacted using the information provided when submitting the entry. This means you should check your Instagram or email, depending on how you submitted your contribution.
If the winner does not respond within 7 days after being notified via Instagram or email, VILLUM Window Collection reserves the right to select another winner.
Any personal data you provide when entering the competition will not be shared with third parties and will only be used to contact you in relation to the competition.
The competition is not conditional upon purchase.
Restrictions regarding motifs:
It is not permitted to submit photographs of people who have not given their consent for the image to be published. The same applies to people in private, vulnerable, or compromising situations, regardless of whether they are photographed in a public space.
You are personally responsible for ensuring that any individuals depicted have given permission for the use of their image. Any potential claims against VWCO will be passed on to you personally.
Right of withdrawal:
You may withdraw your images, and thereby your participation, at any time during the competition period by sending an email to amb@vkr-holding.com. After the competition has ended, the right of use of the image is transferred to VWCO.
Selection:
VWCO reserves the right to exclude offensive or otherwise inappropriate images. Images containing watermarks or text (e.g. a date stamp) will be excluded.
Use of images during the competition period:
During the competition period, VWCO reserves the right to share submitted images on its Instagram profile. If you do not wish to be tagged or otherwise credited when your image is shared, this must be stated upon submission.
Processing of personal data:
Your name and personal data will only be used in connection with the competition and exhibition. Your name may be mentioned when crediting images. The winner will be contacted directly and announced via VWCO’s channels.
