How do windows shape our everyday lives? That is the question we will explore when we celebrate World Architecture Day on October 9 at the VILLUM Window Collection.
This year’s theme for World Architecture Day in Denmark is “Everyday Life”, and we highlight it with a tailored guided tour of the exhibition Window Behaviorology. Because - How do windows influence the spaces and situations we move through every day? When we wake to the morning sun, air out a room, work in daylight, or connect with the outside world through our windows.
The tour will conclude with a look into our collection, where we have selected a few special windows to illustrate the day’s themes—and to provide inspiration for the future of windows and the use of daylight in architecture.
World Architecture Day offers architectural experiences across Denmark. The day officially falls on October 6 this year, but events are also held before and after, such as the event at the VILLUM Window Collection.
About Window Behaviorology
The exhibition Window Behaviorology is curated by Japanese architect and professor Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and the Tsukamoto Laboratory, who since 2007 have researched the role of windows in human behavior and daily life. Through field studies in 34 countries, they have documented hundreds of windows—with texts, photos, and drawings—investigating how light, air, view, and window design affect our daily rhythms and social lives.
