Wall of Windows from The Brooking

A wall of English windows dating from the 17th to the 20th century.

On June 1, 2018, VILLUM Window Collection opened its doors to the exhibition 'Wall of Windows from The Brooking'. This distinctive display, curated by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, features 68 historical windows drawn from the extensive collection of building components assembled by English architectural historian Charles Brooking.

The English architectural historian and collector, Charles Brooking, lends his name today to The Brooking Collection, which houses around half a million English building components. The collection is located in Surrey in southern England and spans a period of 500 years. With 40,000 windows and window parts, windows comprise a significant portion of the collection.

At the opening of the exhibition 'Wall of Windows from The Brooking', Charles Brooking spoke about the collection and together with Anna Bishop, from The Brooking National Architectural Museum, they introduced the exhibition 'Wall of Windows'.
