Tivoli window

A long, narrow aperture in the stone of the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy; constructed around 80 BCE. The opening is framed by profiled stone. The window from Tivoli was an inspiration for architects of the Renaissance, Baroque and New Classicism who copied and reinterpreted it.
