On a fully reversible window the sash can be turned almost 180 degrees around a horizontal axis. When opened, the upper part of the sash moves vertically towards the windowsill, while the lower part swings out.
Fittings for the fully reversible window – also known as the "housewife's window" – was developed in 1959 by the Norwegian engineer Harald Kvasnes.
