Roman colonnade window

In the colonnades of Roman villas in Pompeii, traces have been found of a very special type of window that was built to protect against the wind and sea breezes from the Gulf of Naples. The windows were attached to columns with frames of wood or bronze and equipped with panes of roman cast glass or the transparent mineral lapis specularis.
