In the beginning of the 20th century the Belgian engineer, Emile Fourcault developed a method of producing a new type of rolled sheet glass.
The method made it possible to draw the molten glass directly from the melting tank and through a cooling tank after which it was cut into large dimensions. This method was called the Fourcault method and was patented in 1904.
