LED glass with integrated light-emitting diodes was developed in 1998.

LED-glass is a specially constructed glass with a laminated interlayer of LED-lights. The invention turns regular window glass into a screen in which it is possible to display patterns, logos, or moving images. LED-glass is most often used in shop fronts, or in glass facades where companies can advertise products. The glass also has an aesthetic potential that could be used for artistic displays.
